Our Firm

Fireside Immigration Services was founded in Montréal in 2025 by John (Jack) Byrne, a citizen of both Canada and the United States, a graduate of the Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law program of Queen’s University Faculty of Law, and the holder of an RCIC-IRB license issued by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants.

Over the course of several years of professional legal experience on both sides of the US-Canada border, I have developed a nuanced, cross-border perspective to the practice of immigration law. My journey into this profession was driven by a commitment to helping individuals navigate the often-intimidating legal barriers that can arise when attempting to cross international borders.

I immigrated to Canada from the US in 2020, and became a citizen in 2023. I understand the high personal stakes of immigration for each person who attempts it, which is why Fireside Immigration is built on the values of transparency, reliability, and personalized care. My practice is focused on providing clear, strategic advice and steadfast representation to those seeking to build their futures in Canada, ensuring that no matter the complexity of the case, my clients have a passionate and competent advocate by their side.

What is an RCIC?

A Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) is a legal professional with specialized training in immigration law, authorized by the Government of Canada to provide legal advice and representation in immigration matters. All RCICs are members of the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC), which is the official regulatory body established by Parliament to govern the profession and to protect the public interest. When contracting with any legal representative, you should always verify that they are authorized to practice by the appropriate regulatory body. You can verify my credentials on the College's Public Register.

As your authorized representative, an RCIC acts as your primary liaison in all dealings with the Canadian government, including Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

Navigating the complexities of Canadian immigration law without professional representation can be a daunting and risky endeavor. A single error or omission on a form can result in months of delays, a refusal, or even a finding of misrepresentation which can result in a five-year ban from Canada. I provide a thorough and meticulous review of every document that crosses my desk, ensuring every part of your application is correct and complete.
